Wildlife Rehabilitation

We have a wildlife rehabilitation license and encourage people to call us if they have a concern about a wild animal, 883-4349.

Dr. Maxeiner and Ryan Law work together caring for wild animals that have been injured or abandoned. Dr. Maxeiner provides the immediate medical care and Ryan does the long term follow through. Ryan Law’s phone number is 883-5344 or her cell: 596-4004.

People finding baby birds with feathers should first ascertain that the baby is uninjured and look for the parents. It’s preferable to put the baby back up in a tree or bush rather than assume it has been abandoned. The parents are frequently right there ready to care for the fledgling and will not mind that you have handled it. This is especially true of raptors (hawks, eagles, falcons, owls) whose babies spend quite a bit of time sitting on branches before they can actually fly. Although it may seem like a good idea to take care of an orphaned baby animal yourself, this is rarely true and often puts the animal at risk. We encourage you to bring the animal to the clinic where we will give it medical or surgical care and foster it–at no charge to you.
