Our Staff
Nancy Maxeiner, DVM
I grew up in Hawai’i and graduated from UH with a degree in nursing. I moved to the Pacific NW in 1974. After a stint of nursing in Mt. Vernon, WA I decided to follow my original dream of becoming a veterinarian. I enrolled at WSU in 1980 to finish a BS in Animal Sciences at the same I fell in love with the Palouse. I've been here ever since graduating with a DVM in 1988. My husband, Niles, and I were lucky enough to be able to buy the ACC in 1990. He too is a DVM but is now working in veterinary infomatics for the Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory at WSU.

We live out in the country and have a menagerie (of course). My two passions are horseback riding in the woods during the spring, summer and fall and snowboarding in the winter. Niles loves to ride his motorcycles, play golf and garden.

Janet Anders, DVM
I graduated from the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990, and worked in clinics in White Salmon, WA, and Bonners Ferry, ID, before moving to Moscow in 1996. I am currently the relief veterinarian at Animal Care Center.

I live on Moscow Mountain with my husband, Paul, and our three children, ages 4, 7, and 9. I enjoy working with pets and their people and the varied experiences that being a veterinarian provides. I am also a musician and enjoy camping and playing with my children.
Brooke Cummings, DVM
I am a native of the Palouse. I attended Washington State University and completed my doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. After graduation, I had the opportunity to work in Iowa, Montana and Boise before returning to Moscow with my family in 2002

My husband Pat and I have two children, Bryce and Morgan. The Cummings family also includes two cats, a labrador, fish and a leopard gecko. I enjoy hiking and fishing with my family. I have also dabbled in quilting, beading and lampworking.
Noell Swearingen
Veterinary Nurse
Growing up, my dad was in the US Navy. We got to travel the world and live in some of the world’s most beautiful places, like Italy, Hawaii, and my favorite; Panama City, Panama. I love to hunt, fish and spend time with my family. I met and married my husband, David, in San Diego. Our family has a beautiful daughter, our dogs Dunlap and Adel, and our cat, Pixie. I trained as a veterinary nurse in Chula Vista, California. We moved to Lenore, Idaho in 2005 and fell in love with Idaho and all of its adventures.
Anne Sumption
Office Manager
I was born and raised in a small farming community in Nebraska. My husband Brian and I lived and worked in Lincoln, Nebraska; London, England; and Denver, Colorado before we moved to Moscow in 1985. Brian is a professor at the University of Idaho. I worked in administration and public relations for many years, including at the University of Idaho, and I owned a small wool import business for a short time. From the early ‘90s through 2008, I was a travel agent in the Moscow/Pullman area.

Our fun-loving cat, Gus, has inspired me to work with and be around other animals. I'm looking forward to my administrative work at the Animal Care Center and getting to know you and your pets.
Zach MacDonald
Veterinary Assistant
Working at Animal Care Center is a great experience as I have always had an interest in animals. I am currently attending the UI as a double major in Wildlife biology and Ecology/Conservation biology. My true loves in life are the outdoors, wildlife and my beard.
Patricia Yager
Veterinary Assistant
I am a proud Moscow native. I grew up on a family farm outside of town where we adopted wild mustangs from the BLM. All my life I have loved fishing, hunting, and riding horses. I have two beautiful children, Jennie and Wyatt. I started working for the ACC because I love animals. I am very excited about meeting you and your pets.
