Our Philosophy

Our goal at ACC is to offer quality health care through medicine, surgery (including orthopedics), and basic dentistry on dogs, cats and small mammals. We will see birds and reptiles but do not consider ourselves experts.

ACC is a small but well-equipped clinic. Because the staff and physical space is small, the pets in our care receive a lot of attention. We also spend the time it takes with our patient’s owners to talk to them about their pet’s condition, test results and treatment options. In this world of increasingly sophisticated options in medical or surgical care for pets (and people), we strive for honesty and compassion with a one on one approach. I have great respect and appreciation for my staff’s knowledge and ability to help our patients and clients. Our goal is to keep pets healthy and happy for a good long life. When they’re sick, ideally we’d like to always be able to “make them better.”

I recently completed a course in veterinary acupuncture at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins. The 5 month long course focused on a neuroanatomical approach to the ancient practice of acupuncture as well as covering elements of traditional Chinese medicine. My goal in learning acupuncture was to offer adjunctive therapy to the more traditional western medicine that I practice and was trained in. I have found it very helpful for chronic pain, post-operative analgesia, and metabolic problems. I’m excited by the possibilities that acupuncture offers and am happy to offer a broader spectrum of treatment.
